Marvin S. Austin, 91, of Mount Vernon, Illinois stepped into Heaven on December 25, 2020, at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor.

Mr. Austin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for sixteen years during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam eras.  He worked at VanTran Industries and retired in Waco, Texas in 1999

A Graveside Service for family only will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 1:00 PM at East Salem Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Richard McCormick officiating. Full Military Rites will be held at the cemetery. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Marvin’s honor to East Salem Baptist Church. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 10 people in our building at a time. Following the CDC and NFDA regulations, we encourage everyone to wear a mask. He was born June 28, 1929, in Farmingdale, Illinois to the late Ivan Hershal and Iva Estella (Tucker) Austin.  Marvin married Ruth Huston on October 14, 1950, in Mount Vernon, Illinois and she preceded him in death.  He later married Barbara (Rathert) Austin on November 2, 2002, in Campbell Hill, Illinois.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Austin; his brothers, Ivan and David Austin; and his sisters, Wilma Austin and Helen Blood.

In addition to his loving wife of eighteen years, Marvin is survived by his son, Kevin Austin and wife, Beth of Lorena Texas; grandson, Skyler Austin and wife, Courtney of Richmond, Texas; grandson, Shane Austin and wife Bethany of Hewitt, Texas; great-grandchildren, Charlotte of Richmond, Texas and arriving soon Zoe Austin of Richmond, Texas and Emmy and Tony of Hewitt, Texas; brothers, Ray Austin and Jim Austin; sisters Charline Vono and Cheryl Thrasher; and many nieces and nephews.
