Salem City Council to review bids for Bryan Park inclusive playground

By News Dec 21, 2020 | 8:40 AM

The Salem City Council Monday night will review vendor proposals for the inclusive playground equipment planned at Bryan Memorial Park. The committee that reviewed the bids is recommending the Hutchinson Company that provides Miracle Equipment as the best offer at $330,000. The proposal was selected from 11 made from six vendors. The top three were selected to make presentations before the final recommendation was reached.

The council will look at a revision in the Food truck vending ordinance. City Manager Rex Barbee notes the vendors have become more prevalent within the last year and the revision clarifies the requirements for itinerant vendors to operate this type of business.

A second reading is on the agenda for the proposed Social Media Policy. The policy would require more aggressive archiving of information including postings that could be retracted by a commenter prior to the end of the day when the city has been saving postings.

The council meeting begins at six Monday night and will be held via zoom conference call.
