The Centralia City Grade School Board was told Tuesday night the district hosted 1,500 Zoom sessions totaling almost 600,000 minutes during November.
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Christine Becker said the majority of the sessions and minutes were from teachers meeting with students. The sessions include time spent with whole groups during full remote learning as well as other sessions set up to help individual students or small groups of learners as well.
Becker says to say that everyone has learned and adapted to new challenges is an understatement, especially when considering that the numbers encompass students of all grades.
Becker reported teachers are learning a new program Nearpod to share lessons with students. The program will allow teachers to provide lessons that are interactive as well as include all of their materials and activities in one place for students to easily access.
The Centralia City Schools are currently completing the second iReady diagnostic that will allow comparisons regarding student growth and areas of need.
