Mrs. Eddie B. Gray, age 72, of Mount Vernon, Illinois was born in Gunnison, Mississippi to Ms. Bessie Moses and Jeff Shelby. Mrs. Gray confessed her hope in Christ at an early age. She relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she met and married the love of her life, the late Mr. Tommie Gray. Mrs. Gray was a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Gray will be truly missed by all her family and friends.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Delano Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 25 people in our building at a time. Mrs. Gray is survived by her daughter, Ms. Alice Shelby of Chicago, Illinois; four sisters, Ernestine Nevings of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Martha Carr of Chicago, Illinois, Loretta Drummer of Cleveland, Mississippi, and Velma Dean Shelby of Decatur, Illinois; two brothers, Willie Drummer of Wisconsin and Michael Urson of Mmichigan; two aunts, Inell Park of Shelby, Mississippi and Odessa McCoy of Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Anthonyion Shelby of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Lucas Shelby of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Shawnte Brown of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jeff Brown of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Cordell Shelby of Chicago, Illinois, Alicia Crawford of Chicago, Illinois, and Patrick Brown of Mount Vernon, Illinois; twenty-six grandchildren; a special grandson, Jabar Walter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Elmo Shelby; and great-grandson, Patrick Brown, Jr.
