Marion, Jefferson and Fayette Counties all report new COVID-19 related deaths

The Marion County Health Department has reported two new COVID-19 related deaths.  The female and male in their 80s had both been hospitalized.  The two deaths bring to ten the number of COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began.

There were also new deaths reported Wednesday in Jefferson and Fayette Counties.  The Jefferson County Health Department reports a male in his 80s who lived in a long term care facility was their 40th death.

The Fayette County Health Department reported a death of a resident of a congregate-care facility.  It is the county’s 16th COVID-19 related fatality.

The Clay County Health Department confirmed the three deaths reported in the county on Tuesday were all long term care facility residents.   That brings the county’s death toll to six cases.   The department also announced two other deaths are currently under investigation by the Illinois Department of Public Health with more details to be released later.

The Marion County Health Department also announced eight new positive COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.  None of them are in school, three are community spread and five are household/close contacts to previous positive cases.  There are now 151 active cases, 14 of which are in the hospital and one on a ventilator.   Seven more people were cleared of isolation today, bringing the total number who have recovered to 609.  The cases range in age from a male in his 20s to a female in her 60s.  All are reported doing well and are in isolation.

The Clinton County Health Department reported 13 new positives bringing their total on home isolation to 159.  Another ten are hospitalized.  1,268 have been released from isolation.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting six new positive cases ranging in age from a person under 13 to a male in his 80s.  There are now 87 in isolation.

Washington County is reporting two new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a female in her 60s and male in his 80s.  There are currently 23 active cases and 242 released from isolation.

The Fayette County Health Department has 12 new confirmed cases and 157 which remain active.

Wayne County is reporting 14 new positive cases ranging in age from two male teens to a female in her 80s.  There are 82 currently isolating and six who are currently hospitalized.
