Marion, Jefferson and Wayne Counties reporting COVID-19 deaths

New COVID-19 deaths were reported on Friday in Marion, Jefferson, and Wayne Counties.

Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says a female in her 90s passed away at a hospital after apparently catching COVID-19 at a long term care facility.   She was one of three positive cases at the facility which is not being named by the health department.   The death is the sixth in Marion County related to COVID-19.

Jefferson County is reporting two additional deaths.  They are both males in their 70s in long term care facilities.   Jefferson County has now had 37 deaths.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the death of a female in her 70s in Wayne County.

The Marion County Health Department reported 26 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday.  They ranged in age from two male teens to a female in her 90s.   12 are listed as community spread and 14 from household or close contacts.  There are now 152 active cases, including 13 in the hospital of which three are on ventilators.  558 have now recovered including 16 released from isolation on Friday.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 35 new positive cases.  There are now 195 on home isolation and eight who are hospitalized.  1,172 have been released from isolation.

Jefferson County is reporting five new cases from under 12 to their 70s.  There are 116 active cases.

Washington County is reporting 11 new cases since Wednesday ranging in age from two six to nine-year-olds to two males in their 70s.  There are now 22 active cases and two in the hospital.

The Fayette County Health Department has 11 new cases ranging in age from less than 10 to in their 90s.  There are now 81 active cases.   Four of the new cases are part of a congregate living facility outbreak.

The Wayne County Health Department is reporting seven new positive cases, including a male in his 30s to two males in their 60s.  There are 59 currently isolating at home and six who are hospitalized.

Statewide 2,818 new cases were reported on Friday and 35 additional confirmed deaths.  Other Southern Illinois deaths were two in St. Clair County, and one death apiece in Monroe, Marshall, and Williamson Counties.
