The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 2,442 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease, bringing the total number of cases in Illinois to over 300,000. 31 additional deaths were also reported. None were in South Central Illinois, but three were in the Southern part of the state. They include two in Madison County and one in Crawford County.
The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is 3.4-percent. An additional 71,634 tests were completed in the 24 hours before Saturday’s report.
The Metro East Region’s rate of positivity increased two-tenths of a percent to 7.9-percent. The Southern Illinois Region is also up two-tenths of a percent to 5.8-percent.
