The driver of a car was injured after it ran off the 3200 block of Barton Road in rural Junction City late Friday night, hit a tree, and caught fire.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say the car was driven by 34-year-old Johnathon Thomas of South Walnut in Centralia.   He was able to get out of the vehicle before the fire spread inside the car.   Initial reports did not indicate why the vehicle had left the road.

Thomas was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries.

Sandoval Fire and EMS, United Medical Response, and Sandoval Police Department all assisted on the scene.

The crash occurred 10:41 Friday evening.
