2022 07/03 – William Robert ‘Bob’ Southerd

William Robert “Bob” Southerd, 88, of Texico, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Nature Trails Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.

He was born on October 13, 1933, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Charles Clifford and Agnes (Rote) Southerd. He married Betty French on October 11, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, and she survives.

Mr. Southerd loved to work with his horses and mules, gardening, and traveling to the mountains. After turning his life over to Jesus, his greatest joy was to sing and preach the word of God. He pastored several churches in the area and traveled to Mexico three times on mission trips which he enjoyed very much. He work at Vernois for many years and mowed yards and cemeteries.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is also survived by a son, Randy Allen Southerd, a daughter Beth Ann Southerd, four grandchildren, Aaron Sechrest, Nicholas Sechrest, Audrey (Southerd) Sharp and Sadie Southerd, three great-grandchildren Carly Sechrest, Faith Sechrest and Emberly Sharp. Mr. Southerd was preceded in death by his parents, An infant daughter, Rhonda Lee Southerd, siblings, Harlan Southerd, Edward Southerd, Elenor Cralley, Fern Bullock, Mary Spacky, Charles Southerd, Gale Southerd and Dora Southerd.

A graveside service for Mr. Southerd will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Panther Fork Cemetery, with Rev. Don Rector officiating. Visitation will be at the cemetery, from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m., on Sunday. Online condolences may be made at www.osbornfuneral.com, or on the Osborn Funeral Home Facebook page.
