Wheat harvest is underway in Illinois.

“Wheat harvest has begun in Illinois.  3% of acres have been harvested compared to 9% for the five year average.  The condition of the crop was rated 8% very poor to poor, 22% fair and 70% good to excellent.”

Corn planting is finished and 96% of the crop has emerged.  94% of soybeans have been planted and 88% have emerged.  The first cutting of alfalfa is now 71% complete and average statewide topsoil moisture came in at 1% very short, 11% short, 85% adequate and 3% surplus.
