Bond was set at $7,500 in Marion County Court on Tuesday for a 22-year-old Sandoval man charged with unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault, battery, and criminal damage to a motor vehicle.

Branden Bierman of South Oak is accused of going to the home of an ex-girlfriend and another man on Holly Street on March 19th where the series of incidents occurred. He’s charged with unlawful use of a weapon for allegedly having the ax handle which he allegedly used to strike the man resulting in the battery charge. He’s also accused of lunging at the man while armed with a small knife. The criminal damage charge is for allegedly breaking out a vehicle window with the ax handle.

Centralia Police had entered Bierman as a person of interest that was taken into custody on the charges Monday after Sandoval Police had arrested Bierman for an unrelated aggravated assault incident where he had allegedly put a knife to the throat of a 14-year-old juvenile female. The State’s Attorney’s office has not filed any charges at this point in connection with the Sandoval arrest.

Bierman had the public defender appointed to represent him.
