2022 06/11 – James W. Stillwell

James W. Stilwell, age 87 of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Doctor’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Services.

James was born on February 3, 1935, the son of William Herman and Ola (Matingly) Stilwell.  He married Marilyn Kay (Sands) Stilwell on March 8, 1980, in Salem, Illinois and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include sons, Michael Steven Stilwell and wife Marlena of Odin, John Harold Eubank and wife Mitzi of New York, Christopher David Eubank and wife Robin of Olney, and Melvin Edward Eubank and wife Amy of Olney; daughters, Denise Marie Stilwell of Salem, Patricia Ada Eubank of Junction City, and Brenda Jeanine Selby of Tennessee; several grandchildren, including a grandson Brian Stilwell who James raised since his father passed away in 1999 and Brian’s wife Caitlin; several great-grandchildren; and companion Beverly G. Erwin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Dennis Wayne Stilwell; daughters, Debra Lynn Stilwell-Kaminiski and Robin Stilwell; brother, Steven Stilwell; and two sisters, Maxine Rohats and Eva Edgell.

James was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem, the Salem American Legion, and the Kenneth Stuber Masonic Lodge.  James served in the United States Army.  In the last few years, he enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for James W. Stilwell will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.  Burial will follow at the Antioch Cemetery in Centralia with Military rites by the Salem American Legion.  There will be a visitation from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem which is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be made at www.CrouseFH.com.
