The National Weather Service says a tornado with an EF 1 rating was responsible for damage along a nearly 17-mile path from north of Breese to the Greenville area early Thursday night.
The tornado first touched down a couple of miles north of Breese on Jamestown Road and continued northeast until it reached the southern outskirts of Greenville. Damage along the path included extensive damage to farm outbuildings, and machine sheds as well as minor damage to residences.
The weather service reports the estimated peak winds of the storm were 110 miles. It was 250 yards in maximum width. The storm was on the ground from approximately 5:57 to 6:16 Thursday evening.
