2022 05/22 – Charles Lee Adams, Sr.

Charles Lee Adams, Sr., 87, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 10:25 am May 17, 2022 at his residence. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as Military Police during the Korean Conflict. He began his working career at the Bluford Ice Plant and later worked for 35 years as a conductor and brakeman for the Illinois Central Railroad. Charles was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed. The Adams family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Dustin Morlan for helping take care of Charles through the end. They would also like to say “thank you” to the caring, compassionate hospice nurses.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois with Reverend Nathan Scott officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #141. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Charles married Beverly (Lewis) Adams on December 15, 1956 at the Bluford Baptist Church. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage. In addition to his beloved wife, Charles is survived by his children, Charles Lee Adams, Jr. and wife, Melinda of Bluford, Illinois, Bobby Adams of Belle Rive, Illinois, Brenda Davis and significant other, Terry Cutt of Bluford, Illinois, and Jackie (Adams) Odum of Briton, South Dakota; grandchildren, Mallory Rae, Joshua Allen and wife, Lacey, Jeremiah Lee and wife, Brittany Nicole, Heather Ann and significant other, Dustin Morlan, Rebecca Ann and husband, Nathan Scott, and Joseph Tipton and wife, Emily Jo; great-grandchildren, Emily Briana, Moses Cabal, Kywren Mickel, Autumn Justine, Walkley Ryland, Malakai Xavier, Brynnlee Renee, Savannah Ann and significant other, Cody Tylar, Breigh Ann and fiancé, Travis, Jacob Allen, Wyatt Nathaniel, Cody William, Baylor Tipton, Hudsyn Grey, Guthry James, Andersyn Davis, Nolyn Justus, Collie Jean, and Lewis Tipton; great-great-grandchildren, Aliannah Grace, Zayden Lee, and Paisley Grace; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Lee Adams was born March 4, 1935 in Mount Vernon to the late W. R. and Nora (Robinson) Adams. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter and Wanda.
