The Franklin Park Track & Field Team was honored at Awards Night on Monday in the Franklin Park Gym after a historic season. For the first time in school history, both the boys and girls brought home state trophies with the boys finishing 2nd and the girls 3rd at the SIJHSAA State Meet held at Carterville High School.
Finley Puricelli was honored for scoring the most points on the girls team with 82.25 with Alex Spencer getting the honor on the boys side with an amazing 105.
The boys Heart Awards went to Avery Gullion, Payton Gullion, Robby Shober, Hunter Malan and Angel Salgado. The girls winners were Kinsey Jarrett, Kendall Zimmermann. Most Improved on the boys team was Clayton See and Holden Richardson. On the girls side it was Jordan Kessler and Elara Brubaker.
The Field MVP’s were Morgan Mickens, Noah Timm and Ryegan Warren. Marah Johnson, Hannah Smith, Ruthie Hays, Aubrey Bandy and Finley Puricelli were girls Field MVP’s.
They also handed out special awards to Morgan Mickens for breaking the school record in the discus at 155’1”, Ryegan Warren in the high jump at 5’9.5”, the 7th grade 4x200m team of Avery Gullion, Payton Gullion, Madden Thompson and Trey Clark who did it at the state meet in 143.33. Clark also broke the 7th grade 100m record in a time of 11.85.
Finley Purcielli, Addison Bullard, Kinsey Jarrett and Marah Johnson were honored for their varsity girls 4×100 record set in a time of 53.66.
