Elba M. Schroeder, 61, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at her home.
She was born May 28, 1960, in Centralia, the daughter of Leo Fowler, Sr., and Roberta Helen (Barbee) Fowler Garren. She married Mike Schroeder on June 15, 1986, in Centralia and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 35 years, Mike Schroeder of Centralia, she is also survived by her daughter: Brooke Cheney and husband Chris of Hopewell, Virginia; grandson: Michael Cheney of Hopewell, Virginia; four sisters: Betty Mayoral of Centralia, Donna Shaw and husband Mike of Mission Viejo, California, Sue Montoya and husband Manny of Austin, Texas, and Lenora Funkhouser of Madisonville, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.
Elba was preceded in death by her parents: Leo Fowler, Sr., Roberta Garren, and Arnold Garren, her grandparents, a brother: Leo Fowler, Jr., three sisters: Helen Donoho, JoAnn Gandy, and Barbara Henke, and three brothers-in-law: Joe Mayoral, Don Donoho, and Jim Funkhouser.
Elba worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 plus years. She enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. She was an avid rock collector. Elba loved spending time with her family and friends.
Per Elba’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded and a Visitation will be held on May 28, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the College Fund for her grandson, Michael Cheney, and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Schroeder Family.
