Burge’s First Win Helps Salem To Conference W Over EAWR…..Columbia Finishes 2nd in Cahokia

The Salem Lady Cats earned a 6-1 win over visiting East Alton Wood River.  Lauren Burge got her first varsity win striking out 4.  Lilly Blagoue was 3-3 with 3 RBI, Bre Thurman had 2 hits and Ally Roberts 2 hits with an RBI.  Salem will play at South Central today at 6:30 following the SC v. Flora game at 4:30.

Before the game the Lady Cats honored their senior Avery Bass.  Recently  named Miss Wildcat at the Senior Awards dinner, Avery is the daughter of Adam and Lori Bass.  In response to Bass being given the honor, coach Stacey Lux told WJBD/WSIQ “Bass is extremely deserving of the award.  She has been a 3 sport athlete for four years.  She is hard working, respectful, and a true leader.  She is everything we want in a student athlete as well.”

Columbia locks up 2nd place in the Cahokia Conference behind Freeburg with their 3-2 win at Breese Central.  The Lady Cougars finish 3rd.  Adi Foutch hit a home run for Columbia and Sam Augustine got the win in the circle.
