The Cahokia Conference Track Meet was held at Wesclin yesterday.  In the Mississippi Division, Columbia won their first team title in 10 years with 146.5 points followed by Freeburg with 109 and Salem with 106.  Breese Central was 4th, followed by Roxana and then Wood River.

Ethan Pride had a big day in the high jump with a personal best clear of 6’4 to win that event, Pride also took 3rd in the triple jump. Alec Bandy was first in the pole vault and teammate Bryson Quinn was second. Caleb Smith won the shot put and was second in the discus and teammate Cole Johnson was second in the shot put.

Sean Thorton was second in the long jump and bought home the gold in the 300 meter hurdles. Brayden Smith was second in the 200 meter dash. Miking Ettress was 4th in the long jump and Conner Tennyson was 4th in the triple jump. The 4×200 relay team of Smith, Ettress, Kannon King, and Sam Greene captured 3rd place, as did the 4×400 relay team of Greene, Ettress, Bandy, and Rylan Crane.

Coach Mike Hargis told WJBD/WSIQ “the Cats battled all day long on the hottest day of the year, very proud of the all the efforts today.”

In the Illinois Division, Wesclin nipped Chester 137 to 136.5 with Sparta 3rd at 91.5.  Red Bud, Okawville and Carlyle round out the scoring.

In the Kaskaskia Division, Steeleville easily beat Dupo for the top spot 170-65 with New Athens at 61 and Lebanon 38.
