Salem Community High School Seniors honored at Senior Night

The 2022 graduating class of Salem Community High School earned $750,894 in scholarships to continue their education. The scholarships and a number of other special awards were handed out during Senior Night Monday night.

Principal John Boles says 138 seniors will be graduating this Sunday afternoon at two.

“This is such a well rounded class in so many areas and you saw tonight by the amount and total that academically and athletically this class has really excelled.  And this is just a really neat night to recognize each and every one of them.”

Among the special recognitions were State Scholars Emily Abrams, Kailey Brubaker, Ryne Clark, Rylan Crane, Austin Crouse, Hunter Daniels, Sophia Doran, Mason Hampton, Brett Niepoetter and Aaron Wilzbach.

Perfect attendance awards for all four years of high school were presented to Macie Brandt, Olivia Powless, and Alexander Smith. Two others, Aaron Wilzbach and Elijah Davis were honored for perfect attendance their senior year.

The DAR and SAR award winners were Brynn Metcalf and Brayden Smith.

The Outstanding Senior of the Year was Katelyn Biegeleisen. The Senior Volunteer of the Year was Kailey Brubaker.

The Outstanding Math Student was Carmen Rodriguez, the Outstanding English Student Brynn Metcalf, Outstanding Family and Consumer Science Student Mallory Moore, Outstanding Culinary Arts Student Shymeer Harris, Outstanding Nursing Assistant Students Brayden Phillips and Mariah Webster, Outstanding Science Student Rylan Crane, Outstanding Social Studies Students Alexia Sherwin, Outstanding Spanish Student Brynn Metcalf, and Outstanding Artist Delaney Martin.

A number of Outstanding Vocalist Mataya Petrea, Choral Director’s Award Conner Teriet, Kohrig Memorial Award Macy Clark, and the John Philip Sousa Award was presented to Karley Heiple.

The Outstanding Drama Students were Mataya Petrea and Conner Teriet, Senior Technology Award Emmaleigh Brandon, Green Team Recycler of the Year Cayden Harris, Building Trades Student of the Year Alexander Smith, Auto Student of the Year Tyler Tanner, Future Auto Technician Brayden Aaron, and Outstanding Physical Education Students Macie Brandt and Ashton Mejorada.
