At the Class S Track Meet held at Salem this week several area athletes qualified for the State meet next weekend.
Central City’s Lexi Miller and Erianna Opolony in the 100, Tillie Castleman of New Horizon and Emily Guzman of Selmaville in the 7th grade 100. Castleman and Miller then qualified in the 200. Selmaville’s Carly Veach won the 400 and advanced along with Riley Lusch of Central City. New Horizon’s Adaleigh Donoho and Layna Mannino qualified in the 800. In the 1600 it was Hall of Raccoon and Aurora Amason of Central City. Veach also won the 100m hurdles and moved on along with Hattie Castleman of New Horizon. Selmaville also won the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 relays. They advanced along with New Horizon in each race.
In the field events, Castleman and Iuka’s Kinley Eagan moved on in the high jump. Raccoon’s Bowdler and Emrie Quick of St Mary’s in the long jump, Raccoon’s Braddy and Parrett in the shot put, Chloe Tate of New Horizon and Grand Prairie’s Pyper Chapman.
In the team events, New Horizon won the girls event with 121 points followed by Selmaville with 92 and Central City 77.
Raccoon won the boys event with 135 points followed by Central City with 92 and Selmaville with 55.
