2022 05/06 – Lyndal June (Sanders) Spurgin

Lyndal June (Sanders) Spurgin, 83, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022 in her home. June grew up in Boulder where her parents owned the general store. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. June had a passionate love of horses all of her life. She even worked on a dude ranch with her husband in the first years of their marriage. Later she would become a very active member of the local rodeo events with her children creating memories she cherished for years. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Per June’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and her ashes will be taken home to Boulder to be interred in the family burial site in the Pritchard Cemetery overlooking Lake Carlyle. June is survived by her six children: Beth Mason of Queen Creek, Arizona, Bradley Mason and wife Ruby of Vandalia, Jennifer (Mason) Miekamp and husband Scott of Greenville, Daniel Mason and wife Ginger of Kansas, Cary Mason and wife Kathy of Vandalia, and John R. “J.R.” Mason and wife Dori of Trenton; one daughter-in-law: Wilma Mason of Colorado; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

June was born June 29, 1938 in East Fork Township of Clinton County, Illinois, the daughter of Freddie Ottous Sanders and Aletha R. (Lanham) Sanders. June was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Barton Owen Mason, ex-husband Don Mason, six siblings: Berthel, Charles, Dean, Donald, Irma, and Mildred, and one fiancé: John E. Spear whom she tragically lost three days before their wedding.
