The Patoka School Board has hired a new Principal for the coming school year.

Long time educator Phillip March has accepted the job effective July 1st and is excited to become part of the school. He’s been looking to move to this part of the state where his wife grew up in Clay City and much of her family lives in the Salem and Kell area.

“I’ve been in education this is my 27th year.  I was a special education teacher for 16 years.  I taught at elementary, junior high and high school levels.  I’ve currently been the associate principal at Bloomington Junior High School for the past 11 years.”

March says he has several goals.

“Honestly it’s getting to know the community, people, staff and administration.  It’s building on those relationships and building trust.  Obviously moving forward with curriculum instruction and trying to provide the best education we can for our students.”

March replaces Principal Justin Venhaus who will become Superintendent to replace the retiring David Radamacher.

In other action at its meeting last week, the board accepted the resignation of Amanda Stratman as Student Council Sponsor.

Board members were reminded high school graduation was set for Sunday, May 15th at two pm and eighth grade graduation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th, at seven pm.
