Salem High All Class Reunion set to kick off Friday night

The Salem Community High School All Class Reunion is set to kick off Friday evening with close to 600 registered guests .

First up is a mixer at the Salem Community Center between the hours of 6-10 Friday night. Admission is included in the price of a weekend ticket, but those who  want to come just for the evening will be admitted for a charge of $5.00 at the door.  The evening will feature vocal entertainment, food prepared by the Salem Shriners and a cash bar.

On Saturday morning –the daytime activities will be held at SCHS.  The morning will include the Salem Community High School Academic Foundation Hall of  Fame Induction Ceremony.  This event is free to the public and starts at 9:30 a.m..  This year’s class of inductees includes: Martha McMackin Garland Davis, Ph.D. – Class of 1960, Mason Jett, MD-Class of 1965, Dr. Martha Stiehl-Class of 1968, Rita Nanda, MD-Class of 1989, CJ Holthaus-Class of 1989, Dr. Charles Munter-Class of 1993, and Clara Belle “Tommie” Harrington-Adams-Class of 1939.

The Ceremony will end by 11:00 a.m., at which time the alumni are invited to take a self-guided tour of the school.

On Saturday afternoon, the All-Class Variety Show will take place in the B.E. Gum Gymnasium.  Weekend ticket holders will be admitted at 12:30 p.m., and those who are planning to attend and pay at the door will be admitted at 12:45.  The admission price for this event is $5.00.  The show kicks off at 1:00 p.m., but the audience will be entertained prior to the show by Dr. Martha Heck Stiehl who will perform a number of piano pieces for the crowd.  The Show will feature a number of former Variety Show Emcees, current and former cheerleaders, current and former dance team members, and a group of former Wildcatettes.  The highlights of the show are sure to be a reunion performance by the Invaders, and a trio of numbers on which Gene Stiman will be featured on his trombone.

Saturday evening the group will return to the Community Center for the evening event.  The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the cocktail hour, a buffet style meal will follow at 6:30 p.m., and live entertainment by Epic will kick off at 8:00 p.m..  Only weekend ticketed guests will be admitted from  5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., but the public is welcome to join them at 8:00 p.m. as the band takes the stage.  The admission price for this event is $10.00 at the door for those who plan to attend at 8:00 p.m.   The Saturday evening event will conclude at 11:00 p.m.

On Sunday, all returning Alumni and guests are encouraged to return to their childhood Churches to enjoy a morning of worship and fellowship in the company of old friends and familiar faces.

Weekend ticketed guests may begin picking up their badges on Friday at the State Farm Office of Rich Sinclair between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. .  Badges may also be picked up at each of the scheduled events through Saturday’s dinner/dance.  Throughout the weekend, Somer Real Estate will be providing shuttle services from the parking lots to the event locations for the convenience of the guests.
