The Salem Wildcats return to action today when they host the Mater Dei Knights to SCHS Field. They will also be at home for a double header with Teutopolis tomorrow. Salem dropped to 2-10 on the season and 0-3 in the Cahokia with an 8-0 loss at Columbia. Salem was outhit 13-3 in the game. Josh Powless doubled, Charlie Hunter and Eli Rose added singles. Logan Mueller threw the complete game shutout for the Eagles striking out 7.
The Salem JV is 0-6 after their 8-2 loss at home to Columbia. 4 Salem errors spelled doom for the Cats who gave up only 2 runs on the day. Noah Nix worked 5.2 scattering 7 hits and allowing 7 runs, 2 earned with 12 strikeouts and just 1 walk. Colton Shelton and Cooper Lobek added relief work. At the plate, Rhett Detering went 2-4, Braden Rector had a hit and Shelton doubled. Ayden Rose and Aden Bass scored the Salem runs on RBI from Detering and Lobek.
Due to renovations at Lions Field in Kinmundy, the SC Cougars home game with Carlyle has been moved to a road game today. SC will also play two games tomorrow against Breese Central and Casey.
Last night, Flora beat Hamilton County 10-2, North Clay improved to 10-1 on the year with a 23-5 win in five innings over Woodlawn. They will host Marshall tomorrow.
