Harold “Doc” F. Shelton, 80, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:00 am April 5, 2022 at his residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Doc loved horses and all animals. He was a very caring person and loved to joke around with his family. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Doc is survived by daughters, DeLinda Hungate and husband, Darrel of Dix, Illinois, Debra Lorett and husband, Dan of Saint Louis, Missouri, Kathy Shelton and fiancé, Jeff Keen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Crystal Elliston and husband, Jared of Waltonville, Illinois; grandchildren, Joshua Matthews and wife, Amanda, Amanda Rohr, Zackery Brumley and wife, Lindsay, Danielle Brumley, Jamey Elliston, Dacota Lorett and wife, Briana; great-grandchildren, Kyron, Travis, Zoey, Coraline, Brigid, Lynnox; brother, George “Joker” Shelton of Opdyke, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born March 14, 1942 in Opdyke, Illinois to the late David “Jack” and Beulah (Smith) Shelton. Doc married Delores “Bunnie” (Delaney) Shelton on June 1, 1962. In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by his two sisters and six brothers.
