The SC Cougars earned a pair of wins in Albion on Saturday. The Cougars opened with an 8-0 win over the Edwards County Lions. Chase Thompson went 3-4 with 3 RBI, Andrew Magnus drove in a pair with RBI also from Brandt Hiestand, Ethan Watwood and Spencer Johannes. Anthony Buonaura earned the win going 4.2 allowing 4 hits and struckout 11.
SC then beat Vienna 14-8. The Cougars trailed 8-0 after the first two innings but scored 7 times in the 3rd and added 7 more in the next 3 innings to pull out the win. Watwood had 3 RBI, 2 each from Magnus and Hiestand. Thompson, Aidan Dodson and Buonaura added RBI along with Johannes. Ethan Dunn was the winning pitcher going 5 innings of relief allowing 1 hit and no runs.
Also over the weekend in high school sports, North Clay beat Okawville 15-0 in four innings and beat Freeburg 15-5 in six innings to improve to 9-1 on the season. They will play at Newton tomorrow.
