Salem senior Brendan Phillips shot at the State Farm Center in Champaign in the 2a 3-point Contest on Saturday. Phillips opened shooting 8-of-15 and failing to qualify for the finals. Breese Central’s Dalton Boruff made 9 and also failed to qualify to the finals. Cole Certa of Bloomington Central Cathlic made 13-of-15 in the finals to win the 2a title.
Yorkville Christian’s David Douglas won the 1a competition making 10, Jack Wajda of Providence Catholic is the 3a champion making 10 and Joshua Nelson of Oswego made 13-of-15 to win the 4a title.
All 4 champions then competed for the King of the Hill which was won by the 2a champion Certa who made 12, Nelson from 4a was 2nd with 10 and Douglas and Wajda tied with 8 makes each.
