Nashville Headed To Final Four…East St Louis Falls To SHG

It was Super Sectional night in prep boys basketball.

At SIU-Carbondale, in the first game of the night, Steeleville won the 1a Super Sectional with a 68-47 win over Macon Meridian.  They advance to Thursday’s State Semifinal at the State Farm Center in Champaign when they get Yorkville Christian at 10am followed by Liberty and Scales Mound Thursday at 11:45.  The 3rd place game will be that night at 7pm.

Teutopolis didn’t score in the 1st or 3rd quarters on their way to losing their 2a Super Sectional game at SIU to Nashville 44-18.  The Hornets will advance to the 2nd 2a state semifinal Thursday against DePaul College Prep at 4pm after the first game between Rockridge and Monticello.  The 3rd place game is Thursday night at 8:30.

In 3a last night at the Bank of Springfield Center, Sacred Heart Griffin took advantage of the home cooking with a 60-50 win over East St Louis.  Jake Hamilton led the Griffiths with 16 points, Zach Hawkinson added 14.  Macaleab Rich led the Flyers with 18 points and 10 rebounds with Christian Jones adding 14 points.  Friday’s 3a state semifinals will see Sacred Heart Griffin and St Ignatius College Prep at 10am followed by Simeon and Metamora at 11:30 with the 3rd place game Friday night at 7pm.

The 4a Final Four is set for Friday at 2:30 with Whitney Young and Barrington followed at 4:00 with Bolingbrook and Glenbard West.  Their 3rd place game is Friday night at 8:30.  All 4 state title games and the 3-point shootout will be held on Saturday.
