COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — DeVante’ Jones scored 21 points and Michigan rallied in the second half, wrapping up its up-and-down Big Ten regular season by beating No. 23 Ohio State 75-69. Fill-in coach Phil Martelli guided the Wolverines as coach Juwan Howard finished out his five-game suspension for hitting a Wisconsin assistant in a postgame handshake line. Howard is expected back on the sidelines when the Big Ten conference begins this week. Michigan improved to 17-13. E.J. Liddell recorded his eighth double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds for Ohio State. The Buckeyes are 19-10. Seedings for the conference tourney are still to be determined.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Monika Czinano had 30 points and 10 rebounds and Caitlin Clark scored 18 as No. 12 Iowa captured its second Big Ten Tournament title in four years by beating No. 14 Indiana 74-67. The league’s regular-season co-champs have won seven straight to earn an NCAA Tournament automatic bid. It’s the first time Iowa has won regular season and tourney titles in the same season. Grace Berger finished with 20 points and Nicole Cardano-Hillary had 19 for Indiana. Eventually the weariness from playing four games in four days caught up with the Hoosiers.
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Pete Nance had 19 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, Robbie Beran scored 13 points and Northwestern trailed for just 22 seconds in it 75-62 win over Minnesota in the regular season finale for both teams. Boo Buie had 10 points and eight assists for Northwestern (14-15, 7-13 Big Ten). Jamison Battle led Minnesota (13-16, 4-16) with 20 points. Payton Willis added 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Northwestern earned the No. 12 seed in the Big Ten tournament and plays 13th-seeded Nebraska in one of two-game first round. No. 14 seed Minnesota plays 11th-seeded Penn State in the other.
UNDATED (AP) — Two games involving two of college basketball’s bluest bluebloods over the weekend left North Carolina and Indiana heading into conference tournament week on opposite ends of the NCAA Tournament bubble spectrum. The Tar Heels rolled into Cameron Indoor Stadium and handed fourth-ranked Duke a 94-81 loss Saturday night in the final home game for Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski. That should put the Tar Heels firmly in the field of 68. Then there’s Indiana, which had eighth-ranked Purdue on the ropes before suffering a heartbreaking 69-67 loss on Saturday night. That left the Hoosiers at 18-12 overall and 9-11 in the Big Ten as they prepare for their conference tournament.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Senior Ron Harper Jr. scored 15 points and hit a go-ahead free throw with 1:41 to play as Rutgers edged Penn State 59-58 after blowing a 15-point second-half lead. Caleb McConnell added two more free throws with 31.4 seconds left and Geo Baker made one to give the Scarlet Knights a 59-55 lead with 17 seconds to play. Sam Sessoms closed the lead to 59-58 with a 3-pointer with 11 seconds to play. Sessoms had a chance to win the game after Paul Mulcahy threw away an inbounds pass but his final 3-pointer missed.
