The prep girls Super Sectionals were last night. In 1a, Brimfield knocked off Okawville at Brown County 45-42. In the loss, Alayna Kraus had 22.
Neoga advanced winning the Wayne City Super over Goreville 50-48. Sydney Richards scored 21 with 11 in the 4th quarter to lead them in their comeback win. Brimfield and Neoga will play in the first state semifinal at Redbird Arena in Normal starting at 10am Thursday with Serena and Galena playing at 11:45.
In 2a, Pana defeated Carterville 64-56 to win the Vandalia Super Sectional. Pana will play in the 2a state semifinals against Quincy Notre Dame on Thursday at 2:30 with Winnebago and Fieldcrest in the other at 4:15.
In 3a last night, Civic Memorial knocked off Mahomet Seymour to win the Highland Super Sectional. They will play on Friday at 10am against Mundelein Carmel with Morton and Nazareth Academy playing at 11:45.
In 4a, Edwardsville fell to Bolingbrook in the Illinois Wesleyan Super Sectional. Sydney Harris had 23 points in the loss for the Lady Tigers. The 4a semifinals will see Stevenson and Benet Academy playing Friday at 2:30 and Bolingbrook and Barrington at 4:15.
Area athletes competing in the state 3-point shootout will be Jase Burkett of Woodlawn and Maci Scherer of Red Hill in 1a. In 3a it’s Mallory Ramage of Mattoon.
