Mary F. Lemay, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 am February 20, 2022 at her residence in Mount Vernon. She had a very special love for her grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Revered Travis Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mary is survived by her son, Carl Kennedy and fiancée, Lisa Hart of Dix, Illinois; daughter, Deborah Powell of Charleston, Illinois; grandchildren, Rickey Powell, Kelley Christenberry, Nathaniel Powell, and Brittney Ayres; five great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Capps and wife, Charlotte of Geneseo, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was born January 14, 1941 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Frank Raymond and Mary Belle (Kirk) Capps. Mary first married Bill Kennedy. She later married Jerry Lemay and he precedes her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by grandson, Brandon Matthew Kennedy and seven siblings. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and a great friend to many.
