Mary Arlene Glenn, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:50 pm February 20, 2022 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. Along with her husband, Mrs. Glenn owned and operated Glenn Fine Foods in Herrin, Illinois. She was of the Methodist Faith and attended various churches in Southern Illinois. Mary enjoyed fishing and traveling with her husband.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 23 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Ed Sprinkle officiating. Interment will follow. Mary is survived by her step children, Charlet Nowland and husband, Gale of Waltonville, Illinois, Candace Reed and husband, Johnny of Marion, Illinois; seven step grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Glenna D. Sledge of Rochester, Illinois; sister-in-law, LaDon Jourdan of Bluford, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her step son, Floyd Glenn of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Theodore and Albert Jourdan; and sisters, Anna Mae Stonecipher, Dorothy Bundy, and Effie Gates.
She was born September 26, 1932 in Marion County, Illinois to the late William Theodore and Gussie Alverta (Wilcox) Jourdan.
Mary married Densil Glenn on November 1, 1975 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with thirty-four years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 19, 2009.
