A detached garage used for storage was destroyed in a late Saturday night fire in Centralia.

Centralia Firemen say the garage at 1224 South Walnut on property owned by Yvonne Felton had flames coming through the northwest corner of the roof upon their arrival.   The 800 square foot building was a total loss.  The building had no vehicles inside and was used for household storage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  There was electricity to the building and the power line burned in the fire.

Firemen were able to keep the fire away from a mobile home about 20 feet away.

All available Centralia City Firemen were called in along with the Centralia Fire Protection District for mutual aid.  Sandoval Firemen stood by at the Centralia station in the event of another fire.

The fire call came in at 11:29 Saturday night.  Firemen remained on the scene until 1:32 Sunday morning.
