Wanda Mae Border, 98, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:37 pm February 11, 2022, at the Paladian Assisted Living Facility, at Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois with her daughter by her side.
She was born January 29, 1924, in Brookland, Arkansas, the daughter of Ed and Ellen (Eason) Mann. Wanda married Lawrence Border on February 9, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They were blessed with sixty-five years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 23, 2005.
Wanda was a homemaker and raised two children. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen and husband, Joe West of Centralia; son, Will and wife, Marilyn Border of Mount Vernon, Illinois; granddaughters, Randa Westermann and husband, Eric of Frisco, Texas, Christina Carney and husband, Brent of Carterville, Illinois; grandsons, Tim Border and wife, Tina of Collinsville, Illinois, Robert Payne and wife, Rachel of Dahlgren, Illinois, Neal West of Jacksonville, Florida, Dale West of Washington D.C.; nephew, Rick Mann and wife, Dottie of New Port Richie, Florida; great-grandchildren, Cole Rightnowar, Ben West, Jeremy Border, Sophia Border, Isaac Border, Fallon Carney, Dariyan Carney, Evan Payne, Daniel Payne; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her sisters, Lillian Sanders, Rachel Mann; brothers, William Henry Mann, Osro Mann; grandson, Dan Rightnowar; and great-grandson, Brockton Bisching.
A Visitation will be Friday, February 18, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Kirk Cemetery in Ina, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Wanda’s honor to Saint Jude Children Hospital.
