2022 02/15 – Jack B. Willis

Jack B. Willis, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away February 10, 2022 peacefully at his home. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated Illinois State Trooper for many years and was a member of the American Legion, Amvets, and the Mount Vernon Sportsman Club. Jack was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and stag beer. He was a family man and proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 pm with Father Nick Junker officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #141. Jack is survived by his children, Bill Willis and wife, Sherry, Brenda Jennings and husband, David, Bob Willis and wife, Vicky, Tracy Horton and husband, Rick, and Toby Willis and wife, Karen, all of Mount Vernon, and Tom Willis and wife, Gena of Edwardsville, Illinois; grandchildren, Katie Schrementi and husband, Nick, Julianne Rubenacker and husband, Ross, Kaelin Pierce and husband, Adam, Blake Jennings and husband, Liz, Jesse Maynor and wife, Beth, Ryan Maynor, Brody Willis and wife, Lizzie, Lindsay Willis and husband, Kort, Josh Sledge, Jenni Camarena and husband, Cam, Jake Sledge, Jackson Horton and wife, Lindsay, Robert Willis and husband, Amber, and Colten Willis and wife, Autumn; great-grandchildren, Giuliana, Violet, Nolan, Rya, Wade, Ty, Sawyer, Rhianna, Bella, Bryor, Emma, Kole, Penelope, Lillian, Gideon, Grady, Geno, Loki, Rocco, Jax, Saylor, Kolby, Mylze, Fisher, Cami, Seger, Roslyn, and baby Elliott due soon; brother, Joe Willis; siblings-in-law, Madalyn Morris and husband, Enoch, Charlotte Dalman and husband, Jerry, and Wally Waldman and wife, Carole; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born January 11, 1932 in DuQuoin, Illinois to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis. Jack married Carol (Waldman) Willis on January 15, 1955 at Saint Pius the 5th in Saint Louis, Missouri. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage before her passing on August 30, 2020. In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Hequembourg and Chuck Willis.
