Larry E. Malone, age 76 of Salem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Salem Township Hospital. Larry was a faithful member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He worked as a language arts teacher at Kell School for 33 years and an English teacher at Kaskaskia College for 15 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and was a Gideon. Larry loved to read, paint and write, having a few of his writings published.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Salem with Christine Cunningham officiating. There will be a time to visit with the family at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church and can be left at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements. He married Jeannie Wooldridge on December 23, 1981 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Salem and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage together. Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Malone of Salem; sons, Todd Malone and wife Jaime of Salem and Jonathan Malone and significant other Heather Devine of Sumter, South Carolina; two brothers, Mike Malone and wife Debbie and Jeff Malone and wife Kathy all of Alma; sister, Diane Frankland and husband Gene of Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Sierra and Jameson; and brothers and sisters in law, Bill and Sharon Wooldridge of Farina, Chelle and Gary Reim of Salem, and Vickie Patterson and husband Steve of St. Louis. Larry is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Larry was born on May 4, 1945 in Salem, the son of Clyde and Louise (Shelton) Malone. He was preceded in death by his parents.
