Donald L. “Sparky” Meyer, 98 of Centralia, Illinois passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 in his home. Sparky worked for Karchmer Pipe Supply since 1944 and was still active in company. He and his wife were well known for being the operators of the Grand Roller Rink in Centralia. He enjoyed travelling with his wife. He was Chicago Cubs fan and an Orphan Fan. He and Dick Wethington went to Orphan games together.
Private funeral services will take place at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Central City. There will be no public visitation or service. Survivors include, his son Michael D. Meyer and wife Tina Chitwood, and daughter Shelley Claar all of Centralia. He also has one grandson, Chad Claar also of Centralia. Also left to mourn his passing is his sister: Margaret Cox of Centralia and two nieces, and lifelong friend Jim Buehne of Florida.
He was born December 13, 1923 in Centralia, he was the son of Lawrence H. and Irma (Fritz) Meyer and they preceded him in death. He married Joan (Gott) Meyer and she preceded him death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: William Cox and Thomas Gott.
