Salem Fire Protection District Chief Dave Duncan says the driver of a pickup truck had a wild ride Thursday morning after losing control on an icy spot of northbound I-57 at the railroad overpass just south of the Salem exit.
Duncan says it appears the pickup went into the median and overturned several times, before coming to a stop on its wheels across both southbound lanes.
The driver of the truck, identified as Bryce Soger of Mt. Vernon, was out of the vehicle upon the fire department’s arrival. He was transported by United Medical Response to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries. Soger is the branch manager at First Financial Bank in Salem.
The crash slowed southbound traffic on I-57 until the truck was removed and the investigation completed.
Salem Police assisted with the initial investigation until a State Trooper could arrive on the scene. State Police have not yet released their report on the crash.
