Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says a mobile home scheduled to be torn down was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.

Boshera says the property at 21977 North Krupp Lane had just been purchased by Scott Mandrell of Centralia who was clearing and burning brush earlier in the day.  He believes the fire likely spread to the mobile home.   A passerby saw smoke inside the mobile home and called the fire department.

Boshera says it was fully involved in fire upon their arrival at 3:18 Thursday afternoon.   Firemen were on the scene for about an hour and a half.

About a half-hour after returning to the fire station, the department received a report of a structure fire in the mobile home park in the 1600 block of South Hester Street.   The fire was confined to inside the oven and was out on their arrival.

The fire created smoke throughout the home, which firemen ejected without any permanent damage.   The only fire damage was to inside the stove.

Firemen received the call at 6:14 Thursday night and were on the scene for about 30 minutes.

The ownership of the home was not immediately available.
