The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports positive identity has been made of the man found in a creek off the Orchard Road a half-mile west of Route 37 north of Alma late Wednesday afternoon.
The name of the man is not yet being released pending notification of next of kin.
There were no apparent signs of foul play, but the cause of death has not been determined. The body appeared to have been in the creek for some time.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene by the Marion County Coroner. An autopsy has been scheduled to try and learn more about the cause of death.
The department was notified by the property owner at 3:45 Wednesday afternoon after he discovered the body while checking on his property.
