Illinois still following 10 day quarantine for COVID-19 cases and close contacts

Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says at the present time the Illinois Department of Public Health has not changed their guidance on requiring those who test positive for COVID-19 or who are close contacts to quarantine for ten days.

Mallow says there has been some confusion because the federal Centers for Disease Control has modified their quarantine requirements to just five days to be followed by a requirement to wear a mask for another five days.

Mallow says if the Illinois Department of Public Health changes their guidance, then the Marion County Health Department will go to the shortened quarantine.
