ROSELLE, Ill. (AP) — Bensenville police Officer Steve Kotlewski has returned home six weeks after he was shot nine times in the line of duty.
ABC-7 in Chicago reports that Kotlewski arrived at his in-laws’ Roselle home in a wheelchair Saturday after 42 days in a rehabilitation center.
Twenty-one-year-old Kiante Tyler is accused of shooting Kotlewski as the officer responded to a domestic disturbance on Nov. 6. Kotlewski says most of his injuries are to bones as opposed to nerves, so he expects to heal well enough to run again.
Tyler is being held without bond in the DuPage County Jail and a judge has ordered he undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
