Centralia Mayor Bryan Kuder has fined three liquor retailers the maximum $1,000 apiece for a first violation of selling to a minor within a 12 month period.
Kuder handed down the fines to Lincoln Liquor, Midtown Liquors and Tobacco, and Circle K on West McCord Street.
All three reportedly sold liquor to a person under the age of 21 during a sting operation by Centralia Police.
The staff member of each establishment that sold the liquor was also ticketed for an ordinance violation and are scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on December 22nd.
The Centralia Police Department has been directed to continue to implement ongoing compliance checks for liquor and tobacco establishments to hold each licensed establishment accountable.
Kuder says he will not tolerate the sale of alcohol or tobacco to minors by any establishment. He stressed that holding a liquor license in Centralia is a privilege and fines, suspensions, and revocations will be applied as applicable to any establishment that is found in violation to protect the youth of the community.
