Bond was set at $25,000 in Marion County Court on Tuesday for a 36-year-old Centralia man after he was formally charged with aggravated domestic battery with four prior convictions. If found guilty, Eddie Armstrong of East Kell faces a mandatory three to seven year prison term due to a prior aggravated domestic battery conviction.
Centralia Police say Armstrong was located walking at Elm and Haussler just before three Tuesday morning when and was picked up for questioning as a person of interest in connection with the August incident that occurred at a home in the 900 block of East Kell.
Police reports indicate Armstrong allegedly was able to get into the residence by using a credit card to pick a door lock. Once inside, he allegedly struck the victim in the face and ear and choked her with both hands. A child in the home reportedly ran to a relative’s home for help. Police say no weapon was involved in the alleged attack, but Armstrong reportedly had a pistol in his pants. He was gone by the time Centralia Police arrived.
Armstrong had also been arrested for home invasion, but that offense has not been charged by prosecutors at the present time.
