A 79-year-old Hoyleton man has died in a Tuesday morning single-vehicle crash on the St. Rose Road in Clinton County.

Clinton County Sheriff Dan Travous says Allen Weihe was unable to be revived after being removed from the vehicle.

A preliminary investigation shows the car Weihe was driving was southbound on St. Rose Road and for unknown reasons crossed the center line and ran off the east side of the road.  The vehicle struck a culvert, rolled multiple times and came to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Fire department personnel were able to make entry into the vehicle, locating a single male occupant.  Weihe was extricated and given aid by EMS personnel.

The sheriff’s department release says it is unknown at this time whether a possible medical condition or the crash caused Weihe’s death.
