SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Congressman Rodney Davis says he will seek a sixth term in Congress next year.
The Republican from Taylorville announced his decision Tuesday. He had toyed with the idea of challenging Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker next fall. But the new congressional district map Pritzker signed into law last week puts Davis in a newly minted 15th District with no viable opposition.
The new map was required after last year’s decennial census to reflect population shifts. Had he set his sites on the governor’s mansion, Davis would have immediately become the highest-profile challenger to Pritzker, who is seeking a second term.
