Beulah Mae Gentle, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, left this world for her eternal home at 7:45 pm Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois with her loving family by her side. Beulah was the sweetest, kindest soul you could ever encounter. She lit up any room she entered with her sweet smile and warm spirit. Beulah worked very hard her entire life. She was born during a time when hard work was required just to survive and this instilled in her the value of a good work ethic. She worked several years at the International Shoe factory in Mount Vernon, where her penchant for fashion allowed her to model shoes despite her position as a simple laborer. In later years, she did general housekeeping for several families including Dr. Longwell, Dr. Huffstutler, and Judge Wexstten. Whatever endeavor she undertook, she did so with great pride. Shopping was her absolute favorite thing to do in the world. She loved spending time with her daughters and granddaughters at the mall and would say when one of them would hesitate buying “get it, you’re worth it!” There are so many good things that could be said about Beulah Mae, but her greatest quality was showing complete unconditional love. Her family and those who knew her best will never forget how she mad everyone she knew and met feel loved. Beulah was a woman of great faith and she been active at Logan Street Baptist Church and in later years attended Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon.
