Robert “Bob” Earl Pepple, 74, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 12:24 am November 25, 2021, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Pepple proudly served his country with the United States Navy Seabees during the Vietnam Era from 1966-1968 and earned a Bronze Star. He was an honorary lifetime member of Bluford American Legion and served as commander for eight years, worked fifty years at Local 520 Operating Engineers, and was Webber Township Road Commissioner for twelve years. Bob loved Target Shooting and flying the American Flag and everything it stood for. Bob will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 3rd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 4 at 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home with Brother Les Sinks officiating. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 141. Bob is survived by his son, Chad Pepple of Bluford, Illinois; brother, Neal Pepple and wife, Susan of Bluford, Illinois; several cousins including, Charles Ray Pepple and wife, Linda of Bluford, Illinois; niece, Laura M. Pepple of Manning, Iowa; and nephew, Aaron W. Pepple and wife, Stacy of Opdyke, Illinois.
He was born June 28, 1947, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Wilton Earl and Ruby (Vest) Pepple. Bob married Shirley (Donoho) Pepple on December 26, 1967, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with fifty-one years of marriage before she preceded him in death on February 3, 2019. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by an infant brother and one cousin, Navy Admiral Archie Clemens.
