Alice Marie Field, 88, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away November 21, 2021 at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley, California. Alice was a member of the DAV Chapter #28 and Auxiliary Shawnee Marine Corp Auxiliary #812. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Visitation will be held Monday, November 29, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Jason Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Smith-Veterans Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois. Alice is survived by her children, Mary Avaleno and husband, Pete of Huntington Beach, California, Michael L. Field and wife, Judith of Mount Vernon, James A. Field of Mount Vernon, and Paula Field of Dahlgren, Illinois; sister, Dorothy Dickey of Sims, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was born June 20, 1933 in Wayne County, Illinois to the late James A. and Alice V. (Jenkins) Buchanan. Alice married Harold R. “Tiny” Field on July 11, 1951 in Fairfield, Illinois. They were blessed with 48 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November, 19, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her son, Richard Field; daughter-in-law, Alice Field; brothers, Danny G. Buchanan and James Buchanan; and brother-in-law, Verl Dickey.
