Krista Ann Gee, 49, of New Ulm, Minnesota, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 5:28 pm November 13, 2021 at United Hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Krista worked as a cosmetologist in Mount Vernon and later as a cook at a school in Minnesota. She loved to cook and loved the children and helping them in the school cafeteria. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Most importantly, Krista loved her son, Cooper. He was the apple of her eye.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 20 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jeremy Hamson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Krista married Knox Alan Gee on November 7, 2009 in Panama City Beach, Florida. They were blessed with twelve years of marriage. In addition to her husband, Krista is survived by her son, Cooper Knox Gee; brothers, Mark L. Sterner and wife, Debbie of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Michael “Mike” Sterner and wife, Dorothy of Phoenix, Arizona; aunt and uncle, Paul and Virgina (Punki) Chorpenning of Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andy and Marrianne Gee of Woodlawn, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was born November 16, 1971 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Barry and Constance “Connie” (Chorpenning) Sterner. In addition to her parents, Krista was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mary Jane Gee.
